Cedars of Lebanon Wedding - Shanna & Zach
Nashville Wedding Photographers - Jon Reindl Photography
Shanna and Zach had a beautiful spring wedding at Cedars of Lebanon State Park just east of Nashville. Every detail was thought of for this wedding and Shanna and Zach had so many talented friends and family to help pull it all together.
Shanna : "Almost everything was DIY! The programs, the favors, most of the deco & signs. Even some of the details we wore (my aunt made the groomsmen's bowties & boutineres as well as the bridesmaids jewelry!). We have some very crafty & creative people in the family so we wanted to showcase their talents. "
How did you meet?: We actually met online, which I still feel a little funny saying out loud, but I know it's much more common nowadays than it used to be. We were both just living very busy lives at the time & it was difficult to find what we were looking for, so we thought we'd try it out.
How long did you date?: We "dated" or hung out off & on for a little while, maybe 6 months or so before we became "official" & committed to each other. Then we were together for about a year & 3 months before he proposed.
How did he propose?: Zachary proposed on Christmas morning. They had spent Christmas Eve night over his parents' house in the bedroom that Zachary grew up in. They were still in their Christmas PJs, getting ready to go open gifts with his family. Before they left the room, Zachary said he wanted to give her something privately. He got down on one knee & popped the question! They were then able to spend the rest of Christmas Day & the week ahead celebrating together & with family.
When did you know he was the one?: I knew pretty early on. I actually had a hard time trying NOT to spill the L word too quickly. I'm not sure if it was any one specific moment, but I do remember the night that I just really "knew". We were just hanging out, nothing fancy, just enjoying each other's company. I remember it being very easy & comfortable, & laughing a lot. I could just see myself spending forever with him.
What part of wedding planning made you crazy?: Probably just finances. It was difficult to keep track of where everything was going & how much we were spending, not to mention, wedding's cost a lot! As far as planning goes, I did most of it myself (no wedding planner), so it was a little stressful but also a lot of fun to really customize everything to our tastes.
What was your favorite part of your wedding day?: I have quite a few! Hanging out with my girls the morning of to get ready was a blast. Then of course, the moment I started walking down the aisle & locked eyes with my groom... it was like nothing else mattered & it was just the two of us. That moment will be fresh in my mind forever. Same thing with our special dance. And then the party- when everyone started getting up & dancing & having fun! It was amazing to see all of our friends & family having a good time at our wedding, & we had a blast dancing the night away with everyone.
Did you do any DIY? If so, what?: Almost everything was DIY! The programs, the favors, most of the deco & signs. Even some of the details we wore (my aunt made the groomsmen's bowties & boutineres as well as the bridesmaids jewelry!). We have some very crafty & creative people in the family so we wanted to showcase their talents.
What were your wedding colors? Wedding Theme?: The main color was yellow, with an accent color of dark purple. Didn't really have a specific theme, just wanted it to be bright, cheerful, warm & sunny. We used lots of sunflowers & yellow.
What song did you walk down the isle too?: Journey - Faithfully (string quartet version)
Name of first dance song?: KISS - Forever
What is your favorite part about being married?: There is a strong sense of security when you're bonded by marriage. Things are also much calmer now that it's just the two of us & all of the wedding planning is over. Not to mention, being able to call each other 'husband' & 'wife' is still so fun! I think now, we are just really thinking about our future together & what's next for us.
